The faster I go in reverse the louder it is and I occasionally hear it when I am driving forward. It is high pitched and only makes noise when I am moving.Typically a high pitched whining sound is either the power steering pump or the Alternator. The typical repair of the power steering is the O-ring on the suction side. In cold weather it shrinks allowing air to be sucked in to the pump. The alternator will also make a whining sound as well.It only happens in gear and when in motion. The whine gradually increases as the speed increases with the loudest iterations between 45-60 MPH.
